The Rossford Firefighters Association will be hosting the Northwest Ohio Volunteer Firefighters Association’s 143rd annual firefighters convention June 16-17, 2017. Thousands of firefighters and their families will be in Rossford that weekend for this annual event. This will give us an opportunity to show Northwest Ohio our community, and what a great place it is to live. The convention will have events starting Friday, including a Waterball Tournament, Queen’s Pageant, and Friday night parade of fire trucks from 6pm until 11pm up and down Dixie Hwy., and end with a Friday night party with a live band. There will be hundreds of people camping in our community, as well as all the local hotels will be reserved and full.
Saturday will start early, and there will be many other activities that will take place ending with a parade starting at Lime City and Schreier Rd to Dixie Hwy and ending at the railroad tracks at the end of the city. This parade attracts thousands annually and lasts about two hours. Awards, and all raffles will be done after the parade. There will be a lot of opportunities of local businesses to benefit from this convention.
Planning for this large event started last year and the Rossford Firefighters Association is looking for local sponsors to help make this convention one of the biggest and best in recent memory. You can kind of compare the City’s 100-year centennial in 1998 and how big that event was.
